Project Based Learning

At the core of the Creative Kids Preschool classroom in Bedford, NH is project based learning.  The projects are based upon interests of the children and teachers allowing both to develop skills while exploring the world around them.  Science, technology, engineering and mathematics are central to many projects providing complex and intriguing topics to investigate.  The arts are incorporated to provide voice and deep-embodied learning, foster creativity and feed cognitive development.  

The role of the Creative Kids Preschool teacher in a project based curriculum is to be a facilitator, responsive to the needs and interests of the students.  The focus is on the quality of materials provided.  Planned activities are used as guidelines and remain flexible.  Projects might live in a classroom for a day or for a year depending on the life that the children breathe into it.
